Joanna is a conservation architect whose work brings together deep technical expertise with a long-standing commitment to the care of historic buildings. Her experience ranges from private homes through to cathedrals and public landmarks.

Her approach is shaped by a respect for vernacular traditions, practical understanding of historic fabric, and a commitment to the long-term stewardship of significant sites.

She has played a key role in the conservation and adaptation of some of the country’s most notable buildings, including Blenheim Palace, Goldsmiths’ Livery Hall, and Winchester Cathedral. Her portfolio includes the restoration of landmark Arts and Crafts houses such as Rodmarton Manor, major interventions in Grade I listed churches, and conservation planning for historic landscapes.

A SPAB Scholar, Joanna trained in both the philosophy and practical craft of conservation, shaping an approach that balances historical continuity with thoughtful adaptation. Her work is supported by a strong network of craftspeople and specialists.

Alongside her advocacy for conservation and craftsmanship, Joanna leads initiatives to integrate sustainable technologies within sensitive heritage contexts — from fabric upgrades and renewable systems to net-zero carbon strategies that preserve the cultural integrity of place.

She is a member of the RIBA, accredited by the AABC, and sits on the Diocese of Worcester Advisory Committee. She is an approved inspector for the Dioceses of London, Gloucester, Worcester, Oxford, and Bristol and a member of SPAB, ICOMOS, EASA, the Victorian Society, the Georgian Society, and the National Trust.

Over the past 40 years, Toby has cultivated a practice that combines good, considered design with a deep respect for historic buildings and places. His long-standing interest in the Cotswold Arts and Crafts tradition has led to the privilege of working on some of its most significant buildings.

Collaboration with artists and craftspeople has always been central to his approach, ensuring these traditions remain alive and relevant within contemporary practice.

Beyond architecture, he provides strategic planning advice for estates in Gloucestershire and further afield, working closely with land agents to enhance core elements, plan for the future, manage change and generate long-term value.

Toby is a member of the RIBA and an AABC-accredited architect in building conservation. He is also approved for Quinquennial Inspections by the Diocese of Gloucester and the Diocese of Bristol.
